1st “Trofeo Velista del Garda”

The 1st "Trofeo Velista del Garda" dedicated for this year to the journalist Sandro Pellegrini comes to an end with more than 220 sailors from the XIV FIV Zone who battled it out in the various Italian Championships of the most representative one-design classes on GardaLake. The award, in its first edition, was created by the FIV Zone in collaboration with Asso 99, Dolphin 81, First 8, Protagonist 7.50 e Ufo 22,with the intention of rewarding the racers who participated most assiduously in the Championships of the different classes.

It has been named to Sandro Pellegrini, the "Pen of Garda", a journalist who for years narrated Garda's sailing in all its forms, highlighting the importance of the entire lake, all its regattas, and all sailors regardless of the class they competed in or the shore of the lake they came from.

The ranking was drawn up based on 5 races, namely the national titles of the different classes, without any discards and including all the crew members affiliated with the XIV FIV Zone, of each registered boat regardless of the role played on board. The goal was to encourage sailors to compete in different classes throughout the season. In the end, there were 225 members who entered the ranking, with many of them participating in the majority of the events.

The first position is shared this year by Antonio Gandini and Carlo Zermini, both from Gdv LNI Garda, who sailed together on Asso 99, Dolphin 81, First 8, and Ufo 22, winning the Italian championships in First 8 and Ufo 22. In third place is Francesco Piacentini from Yacht Club Torri, winners of the Protagonist and Asso titles. Following in the ranking are Diego Larcher (SCG Salò), who participated in all 5 events, Carlo Battistoli (Gdv LNI Garda), Pietro Parisi (FV Malcesine), winner of the Ufo 22 championship, Michele Pavoni (FV Desenzano), Italian champion in Dolphin 81, Luca Brighenti (CN Brenzone), gold medalist among the Protagonist and First 8, Paola Kirchmayr (FV Desenzano), the first among the ladies and Italian champion in Dolphin 81, as well as Lorenzo Azzi (FV Desenzano). The women's ranking sees Luisa Cornacchione (Fv Peschiera) with the silver medal and Patrizia Anele (SCG Salò) with the bronze medal. The award for the youngest Garda sailor goes to Pietro Turella (Gdv LNI Garda).

The official conclusion of this first edition will take place with the award ceremony and the presentation of the Trophy (designed and created by Sara Forti of Forti Oggetti), on Saturday, December 2, at 6:30 PM at Hotel Piccola Vela in Desenzano del Garda, coinciding with the awards ceremony of the Altura Zone Championship XIV FIV Zone.
